In this Independent Project, I painted 3 acrylic paintings on the theme of violence. I called this project Inhumane. I wanted to make these paintings for two big reasons. One I wanted to improve my skills in painting, and second I wanted to paint the human nature. Now of course, the human nature isn't just black or white. The reason why I decided to focus on violence is because there are many emotions that can be captured in violence. For the painting that is based on the Napoleonic Era, I wanted to add more dead soldiers but couldn't due to the time that I had left. So therefore, I added a giant flag that would fit in the environment and fill up the painting more. For the last painting with the gun aiming at a human, I had a few days to work on that painting and the buildings were the hardest thing for me again due to the time. I decided to make the overall painting more abstract than realistic to save time. The style is a entire contrast from the other two paintings. So I made the mood of the painting to also have a contrast to what was happening to the subject in the painting. The whole point of this painting is to highlight how us humans can behave like wild animals even though we are one of the only animals that understand social morals. The thing learned is to managed my time more effectively so next time I can haver more time to work.
